Trigger Verified™

How to verify a wedding venue before paying a deposit.

Paying a wedding venue deposit can be one of the first major financial commitments a couple makes. Before sending money, it is worth checking that the venue, payment destination and contractual position are clear.

1. Confirm the legal identity

Check the venue’s business name, trading name and address. Make sure the name on the invoice matches the business you believe you are paying.

2. Check the payment details

Be cautious if bank details change unexpectedly or if you are asked to pay a personal account. Always confirm payment details through a trusted channel before transferring funds.

3. Review cancellation terms

Ask what happens if the venue cancels, if you postpone, if guest numbers change or if external disruption affects the day.

4. Ask about insurance

A professional venue should be able to explain its insurance position and what it does or does not cover. Your own wedding protection may still be needed.

5. Keep a clean record

Save invoices, contracts, payment confirmations, emails and booking terms. If anything goes wrong later, a clear record matters.

TriggerCover principle

Verification should happen before payment, not after something feels wrong.
